How does it work?
Everything you need to know about bidding at Coins and More Auctions.
Favourites & Tracking
Keep an eye on the lots you care about.
- Click the ★ star icon on any item to add it to your favourites.
- Placing a bid or setting a max bid automatically adds the item to your favourites.
- Favourited items are highlighted on the Live Auctions page and appear together on the My Bids page for quick access.
Placing a Bid
Bids are placed in real time and are legally binding.
- You can bid from the Live Auctions page, the item detail page, or the My Bids page.
- Once a bid is placed it cannot be withdrawn — bid only when you are certain.
- Use the quick-bid buttons (+1 step, +2 steps, etc.) to move up quickly without typing an amount.
- The highest bidder at the moment the auction closes wins the item, provided the reserve price has been met.
- You cannot place a new bid if you are already the highest bidder, unless the reserve price has not yet been met.
Minimum Bid Increments
Each new bid must be at least the minimum step above the current highest bid. The step size grows with the value of the item.
| Current bid | Minimum step |
|---|---|
| €0 – €5 | €0.10 |
| €5 – €10 | €0.25 |
| €10 – €25 | €0.50 |
| €25 – €50 | €1.00 |
| €50 – €100 | €2.50 |
| €100 – €250 | €5.00 |
| €250 – €500 | €10.00 |
| €500 – €1,000 | €25.00 |
| €1,000 – €2,500 | €50.00 |
| €2,500 – €5,000 | €100.00 |
| €5,000 – €10,000 | €250.00 |
| €10,000+ | €500.00 |
Max Bids (Automatic Bidding)
A max bid lets the system bid on your behalf so you never miss a lot.
- Set the highest amount you are willing to pay. The system will automatically place the minimum required bid each time you are outbid, up to your maximum.
- You can remove a max bid at any time, but any bids that were already placed by it remain — the bid history is permanent.
- If two bidders set the same max bid amount, the bidder who set their max bid earlier wins (first-come, first-served).
- If you place a bid and find yourself immediately outbid again, this almost certainly means another bidder has an active max bid. Always check whether you hold the winning bid after placing yours.
- When you set a max bid that meets or exceeds the hidden reserve price, the system will bid up to the reserve price immediately so the item can be won.
Tip: set your max bid to the absolute maximum you would pay — the system will never spend more than necessary to stay in the lead.
Reserve Prices
Some items have a minimum selling price set by the seller.
- The exact reserve price is hidden from bidders.
- If the auction closes without the reserve being met, the item will not be sold.
- Once the reserve price is met, the item page will display a 'Reserve met' notice.
- If your max bid equals or exceeds the reserve price, the system will automatically bid up to the reserve on your behalf.
Sniping Protection
To keep auctions fair, last-second bids automatically extend the auction.
- Any bid placed within the last 60 seconds extends the auction by 90 seconds.
- This gives all bidders a fair chance to respond and prevents items from being won by a single last-second bid.
